An international team made up of astronomers from around the world within the framework of the Gaia mission has just announced the discovery of the most massive stellar black hole discovered so far in the Milky Way. Their research was published this Tuesday by the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics and is signed by 300 researchers from countries such as Germany, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Sweden, Chile, Australia and also Spain. Specifically, the professor at the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Vigo and researcher at the Institute of Physics and Aerospace Sciences Ana Ulla is one of the signatories of the article, whose main author is Pasquale Panuzzo.

The second edition of the competition for business ideas in the field of air traffic management (CRIDA), convened by the Ministry of Transport, has awarded three proposals made by researchers graduated from the Ourense campus.

On February 16th, the eXXperimient information fair for women was held on the campus of Ourense, which aims to awaken female vocations in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) by carrying out experiments with attendees, with the leading role of the female scientists and technologists of the campus. In the morning, more than 300 students from eight centers in the province of Ourense and surrounding areas participated, while in the afternoon the fair was open to the general public, with a total of 14 stands with scientific activities of a visual and manipulative nature in which aspects related to the research carried out in the different STEM areas of the campus were presented.

Dr Jacobo Varela from the University of Austin in the USA gave a seminar at IFCAE on synergies in plasma physics.

The AeroGanp project reaffirms the Galicia and Northern Portugal Euroregion in the aerospace sector.

The AeroGanp project, led by the University of Vigo, has just been launched and has a budget of two million euros of European funds. With the aim of creating an aerospace research network throughout the Euroregion, the consortium that develops it is made up of a dozen partners, including the three Galician and Portuguese universities of Minho and Porto, technology centres and public administrations.
